PRESS KIT:

Who are the band members and what do they play?

The album is a solo effort by Athens based guitarist/vocalist Andreas Chatzimanolis (pronounced Hatzimanolis) aka Hatchma. It features Thomas Andreou on drums.

How and where did you get together?

We got into a fight at the local club. I won.

What are the band’s main influences?

A wide variety of influences lead back to Deep Purple, Cream; The standards in Hard Rock. But also Jazz and Classical. Accidents and the dead… There are Spotify playlists detailing influences for each song. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/78dVF95IbBKCHONCu17mfx (for instance)

Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?

Not together. Individually we are fairly well established professional musicians. It’s not easy making a living playing original music, the music you love. The co-producer of the album Dimitris Bellos has a couple of Greek gold records and Eurovision hits. He wants to join the band on Keyboards.

Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?

The plectrum on the cover of the album was gifted to me by a jeweller. I made the music for a video where he made a seahorse neckless. The plectrum is made out of meteorite. It was flying in space for billions of years. To me it serves as a reminder to not be preoccupied with meaningless worry…

Do you have any favourable quotes from previous reviews of the band that you’d be happy to share?

“The best thing about ‘Andy’ Game’ may be that this guitar teacher isn’t just hitting every note on the instrument … he’s happy to showcase just what a guitar can do. He builds these songs from the ground up … I admire his restraint as much as his talent.”

Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?

Like my friend Quist said once: “Do what you love and f*ck the rest”. The songwriting was inspired by quarter-life crisis. After spending all my 20’s living in London, UK as a musician I moved back to Athens, Greece where I was born and where my family is. Now I am desperate to get the hell out. I dream of faraway lands and time is short…

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album then either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on.

“The Battle of Navarino” was the last naval battle to be fought with sailing ships. It was like a bar-room brawl with ships. It saved the greek revolution. The chorus was stolen from the book “Life on Board a Man-of-war”.

“Never Say Die” is an original, nothing to do with 007. It is a song about determination.

“Silver Lights” is a homage to the great city of London.

“Digital Wormhole” is about being ignorant and thinking you are knowledgable and the explosion of social media.

“Hard Night” is about loosing oneself in adverse circumstances.

“E.C.P. Ye” sounds all greek to you. It means “you are the source of power”. It is about people we depend on. Our rocks, few and far between.

“Ditch Queen” is a cover of the great Frank Marino song.

“Buried Lovers” is an epic about lost love. A “potpourri” of rebetiko, blues, classical, jazz sounds and more!

“Wolfchild” is a song about feeling like you don’t belong. Musically, like the rest of the album, there is a lot of experimentation in production and arrangement.
